Director/Teacher
BDS recognizes each employee as important team members. Educational opportunities are provided to them so they can stay informed of the best practices in the field of early childhood. All staff employed by BDS must meet a list of requirements set forth by the administration of BDS and the Tennessee Department of Human Services. All staff and substitutes must obtain yearly in-service hours in order to work with its students. Background checks are completed on all staff prior to employment. In addition to yearly in-service hours, all staff must receive regular CPR & First-Aid training.

Kathy Burns, Owner/Director/Teacher
Ms. Kathy has taught in a variety of settings from Sunday School in the mission field of North Carolina to her private classroom in Sumner County. With over thirty-five years of teaching experience, her main goal has always been to equip her students with the tools they need to be successful in life and give back to their community. Ms. Kathy has taken numerous early childhood classes at Volunteer State Community College, Nashville State College and Tennessee State University. She hopes to complete her Early Childhood Degree in the near future. She along with her husband Michael has four grown children, and has called Hendersonville her home since 1987.
